Game Design SIG: Warm up to Nordic Game Jam 2012!

IGDA DK presents in collaboration with PROSA:

Game Design Special Interest Group on 12th of December
Find your inner game jam’er and sketch-up a cool game concept in 2-hours! This is a warm-up for Nordic Game Jam 2012 in analog version.

Participants will be divided in groups – themes will be handed out – roles will be given to each participant – and then brainstorming/development can begin! During the jam – we will also have some extra candy (read: challenges!)

At the end of the game jam, each group will present their game concept. You can perform your sound design as a human beatbox or you can perform your game mechanics as acrobatics or your code as a theater play! Or…. it is up to you!

We will also have glögg and ‘æbleskiver’ during the event.

The team with the best game concept will win Nordic Game Jam t-shirts!

Unity Special Interest Group on 17th of October

IGDA DK presents in collaboration with PROSA:

Unity Special Interest Group on 17th of October
Ole Ciliox and Kuba Cupisz from Unity Technologies - http://unity3d.com/ - will be presenting various graphics techniques using depth and normals buffers.

The methods range from improving standard techniques such as particle effects, to creating entirely new ones, like approximate volumetric effects, and advanced image post-processing. The buffers used are in many cases the natural products of the rendering pipeline and offer a way to infer surprisingly much information about the scene, thus allowing for very rich and fast graphics effects. The session can be followed both by artists and programmers, as it discusses the possibilities of the post-processing effects and their technical side.

What: Unity – Visual special effects with depth
When: 17th of October 2011 at 18:00 – 21:00
Where: PROSA, Vester Farimagsgade 37A, 1606 København V

After the meeting we will go to Ørsted Ølbar for a cold brew - http://oerstedoelbar.dk/

If you have any questions – feel free to mail Jesper at tax@igda.dk

[Unity SIG] Unity Special Interest Group Launch!

Dear all members of the IGDA,

We are proud to announce our new Unity Special Interest Group!

In collaboration with Unity Technologies we are arranging successive Special Interest Group meetings in March and April 2011. The meetings are open and free of charge.

The intention of these successive SIG meetings is partly to introduce people to Unity – but also to create a discussion around the specific areas of the engine. So there will be some content for beginners as well as advanced Unity users.

The meetings will take place at IT University on Thursdays in March and April from 18:00 – 21:00.

Each SIG meeting will be a 3-hour session divided into the following:

18:00 – 20:00 Unity Talk & Demo
20:00 – 21:00 Discussion & Hands-on assistance

For the discussion part of the SIG meetings we would like to hear about your ideas on how you see the Unity engine in the future. Please come forward with any ideas, suggestions and wishes.

For the hands-on assistance, which will take place at the same time as the discussion, we encourage people to bring their laptops and projects, as you will be able to get individual guidance by the Unity people for specific issues and questions that you might have for your project.
